For Your diary

We are delighted to celebrate the success of one of our Year 11 students, Sara, whose outstanding essay has been shortlisted as one of the strongest submissions in her discipline in the prestigious Sidgwick Prize.

The competition attracts entries from students around the world to answer essay questions based on eight academic disciplines (Philosophy, Politics, Economics, History, Law, Theology, Psychology, and Art History). Every submission is reviewed by academic specialists, including faculty members at the University of Cambridge. To have her work recognised at this level is a fantastic achievement and a wonderful reflection of her intellectual curiosity, hard work and commitment to her learning.

Congratulations Sara, you should be incredibly proud of this accomplishment, and we look forward to hearing more.

We would like to recognise the ongoing success of our Year 10 student, Gabriel, and his swimming journey.

Last weekend, he raced with his club at the Kent County Relay Championships held at the London Aquatic Centre. All of his events were in the 15 and under category, competing alongside 14 & 15 year olds. He took part in four relay events, achieving some fantastic results:

– Male 4x50m freestyle relay – Gold
– Mixed 4x50m freestyle relay – Bronze
– Male 4x50m medley relay – Gold
– Mixed 4x50m medley relay – Fourth place

It is a brilliant start to the season, and Gabriel was delighted to contribute to his team’s success. We are incredibly proud of him and look forward to seeing how the rest of the season develops.

We would like to kindly remind parents and carers that students should not be contacted directly by phone during the Academy day.

If you need to get in touch with your child during Academy hours, please contact Reception or their Head of Year, who will be happy to assist and ensure that any necessary message is passed on.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us maintain a focused learning environment for all students.

Next week is Ethos Week!

We encourage Parents/Carers to nominate staff who have displayed the Academy’s Ethos of Success, Kindness or Aspiration.

To nominate a staff member, please click here.

We are looking for a new Parent Governor to join our Academy Governing Body.

This is a great opportunity to play an active role in supporting our Academy and helping to shape its future. You don’t need previous governor experience or a background in education, just a willingness to contribute, ask questions and share your perspective as a parent/carer.

Full support and guidance will be provided.

Please contact info@skinnerskent.org.uk to apply or for further information. Applications close on Friday 25 September 2026.

Take on the Autumn Reading Challenge and earn House Points; open to all Students, Parents and Staff – who in your household can raise the most House Points? Students – challenge your family to take part too to earn House Points for you!

Collect the booklets from the Library, or simply download your own by clicking on the image. Read a book that fits the topic (one book may fit several topics), write a review, save it, and return to the Librarian (Mrs Drury) at info@skinnerskent.org.uk by 31 December 2026. Make sure to include the student name.

We now have a competition! Two students have earned their Houses over 470 Points from the Summer Challenge with the help from their families. Can you beat that?!! Give the Autumn Reading Challenge go!
