25 September 2026

In one of our Year 8 Science classes, we have seen some exceptional research Homework projects, which the students verbally presented to their class.

The topics that the students chose to research were very engaging. One particular example was Harry’s project, where he decided to look into Albert Einstein’s diet and how this could have affected his cognitive abilities, showing a link between the properties of the food he ate and his IQ level. Harry’s presentation was truly fascinating to read and received a MYP grade 7.

Well done to the whole class for their hard work and dedication in researching and producing these presentations as part of their Homework!

Welcome to our Enrichment News section, where we will share news about all of our current and upcoming extra-curricular activities such as clubs, trips and visits, and student councils. Students are offered a range of opportunities to enrich their learning experiences; take a look at the timetables below to see which clubs we currently have on offer for students.

Some of our Year 9 students have kindly volunteered to support our younger students from Years 7&8 with developing their Scientific Skills. In Science Club, they began by supporting with flame tests, where they used different elements to change the colour of the Bunsen burner flame.

We would be delighted if any other students in Year 9 or 10 would like to support our younger students. If you would be interested, please speak to Mrs Hawker.

We have received some really kind words for our Ethos Week Staff nominations.

Take a look at some of them here.

On Wednesday, we held a fire evacuation drill, during which the Academy was evacuated in 4 minutes.

Thank you to all staff and students for following the procedures. We would also like to ask parents to remind their children of the importance of remaining quiet during an evacuation, so that they can hear instructions clearly and safely.

We would like to remind parents that, if you wish to contact a teacher, please email info@skinnerskent.org.uk and include the name of the teacher you wish to contact. Our helpful Admin Team will then ensure your email is passed on to the appropriate member of staff.

Take on the Autumn Reading Challenge and earn House Points; open to all Students, Parents and Staff – who in your household can raise the most House Points? Students – challenge your family to take part too to earn House Points for you!

Collect the booklets from the Library, or simply download your own by clicking on the image. Read a book that fits the topic (one book may fit several topics), write a review, save it, and return to the Librarian (Mrs Drury) at info@skinnerskent.org.uk by 31 December 2026. Make sure to include the student name.

We now have a competition! Two students have earned their Houses over 470 Points from the Summer Challenge with the help from their families. Can you beat that?!! Give the Autumn Reading Challenge go!
